The first Portugieser model, the Reference 325 from 1939, was inspired by IWC Schaffhausen’s observation watches – marine instruments used for navigational tasks on ships. This heritage is reflected in the Portugieser Yacht Club watches, which have been bringing a touch of sporty style to the collection since 2010. The Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide is the first stainless steel model to feature a tide indicator developed by IWC Schaffhausen. Located at 6 o’clock on the dial, it informs you of the estimated time of the next high tide. Another feature is the Double Moon™ indicator at 12 o’clock, which shows the phase of the moon as seen from the northern and southern hemispheres and, after 125 years, deviates by only one day. The display has been enhanced with the addition of spring and autumn tides, which show the strength of the current tide. The black dial is made in a complex process consisting of 60 individual steps. It exudes enormous visual depth thanks to the application of 15 layers of transparent lacquer. The watch has a polished stainless steel case with a diameter of 44.6 millimeters and rhodium-plated hands and applications. The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the IWC-made 82836 caliber with automatic Pellaton winding and ceramic components. This sporty sailor watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet with brushed H-links and polished center links.
