OMEGA explores the dark side of the ocean and uses its expertise in ceramics to create the Seamaster Planet Ocean “Deep Black”. This striking 45.5mm watch is a combination of a GMT model and a diver’s watch. It is painted all black to represent the ocean at a depth of 300m. The polished and brushed case has been crafted from a single block of ceramic, the same material used for the unidirectional bezel and Arabic numeral dial.
The hands are made of 18-carat white gold and are coated with white Super-LumiNova. In another first, OMEGA has created an oriented screw-down case, so that the engraved inscription sits comfortably in place. This is achieved thanks to OMEGA’s new and patented ceramic Naiad Lock.
Other features include a honeycomb pattern on the screw-down caseback and a black rubber strap with contrasting stitching and an antibacterial lining. The Planet Ocean “Deep Black” is water-resistant to 60 bar and is powered by the OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8906. It has passed 8 rigorous tests set by METAS (Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology) to achieve Master Chronometer status.
