The blood moon is a fascinating natural phenomenon that can be explained by simple physical laws of light scattering. Many mystical powers are attributed to it, yet its coloration is merely the result of the interaction of sunlight with the Earth's atmosphere. Instead of malice or magical powers, the blood moon reminds us how beautiful and complex natural phenomena in our universe can be.
The two-part, black anodized dial of the Opus PM 70 III model therefore deserves special attention. The numerals at the 12 o'clock position are red, just like the blood moon. The moon phases can be read on a hand-painted disk through an aperture at the "6" position. Every hour, a pleasantly soft chime sounds, known as a "Passing strike."
