Description
At 40 millimetres, the Portofino perpetual calendar is the smallest perpetual calendar in the IWC portfolio. It has a stainless steel case, a silver-plated dial and gold-plated hands, meaning that the perpetual calendar is available in stainless steel for the first time in the Portofino collection. The legendary IWC perpetual calendar was originally designed in the 1980s by the brand's former chief watchmaker Kurt Klaus. The ingenious mechanism is mechanically programmed to recognise different month lengths and leap years. It will function without any adjustments until the year 2100. Calendar information is displayed on three sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. The moon phase display, made of pure gold, shows the moon against a star-studded night sky. Thanks to a special reduction gear, it is so precise that after 577.5 years it deviates from the orbit of the Earth's satellite by only one day. Through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, you can see the IWC-made calibre 82650. This high-end automatic movement, designed with robustness and precision in mind, is equipped with an IWC Pellaton winding system, which has been reinforced with ceramic components and provides a power reserve of 60 hours. This exclusive watch is fitted with a blue calfskin strap with a butterfly clasp.
