The Zenith brand began its history in 1865 when it was founded by Georges Favre-Jacot. It rose to prominence largely thanks to the legendary El Primero movement of 1969 — the first integrated automatic chronograph, beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, which has since become a legend among watch movements.
